That is one awesome ride!
I also have a son with Aperts. He is now 14. When I read your post about the zipper pulls, I thought I would share what we have done. When Josh was little, I used charms, plain key rings and short pieces of ribbon or rope. But as he got older, he no longer needed them on jackets and coats, only on pants. So now we use ponytail elastics. I buy the thickest ones in colors that match his pants. I also attach one to each button hole on his jeans and then just add a button in the right place to keep the pants closed. He just leaves the jeans button undone. The elastics do wear out, but are easily replaced.
