Popcorn is a Sedative

1 am Sunday morning I woke up to the sound--the sound that sets my nerves on fire, makes my heart race, my pupils constrict, and my palms begin to sweat. Jack was crying.

It took him awhile to calm down and then he did NOT go back to sleep. I even made him stay in a dark room and lie down for a couple of hours. I think he really tried but he just couldn't get back to sleep. And that means Mama did not sleep either.

I spent most of the day feeling like this

Jack spent most of the day like this
He happily worked on his symphony and enjoyed his various musical instruments, cars, and books. He was a bundle of energy. I had to find a way to get Jack to relax.
He began to slow down in the warm waters of the tub. He even rested his head on Irish. I thought he might actually fall asleep in there. Suddenly, he hopped out of the tub ready for more activity.

That's when I remembered this

Jack can be so very very sleepy but will not go down without a little snack first.

Yes, I did put him back in the same jammies after the bath. He'd only slept in them and we were not going anywhere. Sue me.

And at last, he began to act a little tired

He gladly accepted the offer of a pillow

And finally

Don't forget to check out this week's Life is Therapy.

Awe, poor Jack, lol. I'll admit though, I've fallen asleep many times with my hand in a bowl of food. :)

It sucks when your all wound up and can't sleep.

I really love that last picture. I'm partial to shots of peacefully sleeping children! :)

My mom's got pictures of me when I was little: I fell asleep in my food, every day for 30 min; while playing; while reading; on swings; in cars...

I still can fall asleep anywhere. I fell asleep in the bathtub last Saturday and scared Ben to death.

Thanks guys, we did have a very very needed and very nice nap.

And the video? It's one of my favorites and I'm pretty sure I will be pulling it out for his wife and kids one day. ;)

That's hilarious. My inlaws have a similar video of my niece eating herself to sleep (come to think of it, about the same age...) Tee Hee...

When Jack was still a nursling I used to joke that when he got older I would have to tuck him in with a pack of crackers. Glad y'all liked the video. :)

Aw, that is such a sweet sequence of photos...and the clip! I have to admit though, I often feel that way after having an afternoon snack as well :)

p.s. We totally wear jammies more than once in our house ;)

bless his heart! what was he so upset for? just not resting well because of the breathing difficulty? He is so awesome. I loved the video of him and the keyboard. He seems to really "feel" the music! I know that feeling, when our babies are upset, there goes our heart...breaking. As I always say, yes you are so blessed to have him, but he is also so blessed to have such a special mom like you!

Well, it turns out that he has yet another icky ear infection. Why do those things always hurt worse at night?!!?
